At The Giving Tree, items flow in and out on a regular basis and there is always a need for a helping hand and a friendly smile. Scroll down to see what we accept in furniture and household goods, to volunteer your time helping clients and donors at our facility, or to give a monetary donation.
Donate Furniture and Household Items
What we accept:
Furniture
We accept a variety of furniture from beds, to dressers, to tables, chairs, and sofas. Every item must meet the following requirements:

Clean

Gently used (no rips, breaks, or other marks of major disrepair), minor wear is okay

Bed frames and other such items may be dismantled, but must have all nuts, bolts, screws, and other connections included

Fabric covered items should not contain any strong odors or pet hair
Household Items
We accept a variety of household items from small appliances, to lamps, to kitchenware, rugs, bedding and a number of other small goods. Every item must meet the following requirements:

Clean

Gently used (no rips, breaks, or other marks of major disrepair), minor wear is okay

Appliances must be in working order

Fabric items should not contain any strong odors or pet hair

Clothing or personal items of any type

books, pictures, frames, baskets or decorative items (knicknacks)

sofa sleepers and sectionals, china cabinets, entertainment centers, buffets, sewing machines

televisions and other electronic equipment
The Giving Tree Ministry has the right to refuse items that are dirty, ripped or in poor condition. We also reserve the right to refuse items due to limited resources or safety concerns for removal.
The donation process:
Space is limited, so please follow these steps:

Call ahead to see if we can house the item(s) and to make an appointment to drop the item(s) off. If you will want a receipt for your donation, please let our Office Administrator know at this time. All donations to our organization are tax deductible. We do not place a value on donated items. To help estimate the value of your donation, you can check out the IRS Publication 561, Determining the Value of Donated Property. Our number and hours are listed below.

Arrange for transportation of your item to our facility. We do not offer pick up or delivery at this time.

Arrive at the appointment time in the parking lot on the north side of First Christian Church, 201 W. 3rd St., Maryville, MO.

A volunteer will meet you at the door and direct you to the designated rooms for your item(s). The volunteer has discretion and may not accept items or if safety or property is at risk. The volunteer discretion applies regardless of prior photo approval. Upon approval of items, you are required to sign a liability waiver before bringing the items into the facility.

If you have requested a donation receipt, the volunteer will give that to you after all items have been unloaded and stored.

Love Offering
Monetary offerings are always welcome. When you give to The Giving Tree, your money will be used to bless others in our community furnish their homes who otherwise wouldn't be able to. All gifts from organizations or individuals are applied directly to The Giving Tree ministry.
